Returns Policy

At Abbey Tooling & Engineering Supplies we aim to make returns and refunds straightforward. This Returns Policy explains our processes and your rights. It does not replace or limit any statutory consumer rights you may have under South African law (including the Consumer Protection Act, the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act and POPIA).


1. Important legal note

Nothing in this Returns Policy affects your rights under the Consumer Protection Act ("CPA") or other mandatory consumer protection legislation. If goods are defective, not of merchantable quality or not as described, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement or refund under the CPA.


2. Eligibility for returns

  • For change-of-mind returns we ask that you contact us within 7 working days of delivery.
  • Returned items should be unused, in original condition and packaging where reasonable to do so.
  • Proof of purchase (invoice or order confirmation) is required for all returns.

These timeframes are our store policy for voluntary returns and do not affect your statutory rights where goods are faulty or not as described.


3. Non-returnable items

  • Used, damaged or altered items (beyond reasonable inspection) may not be accepted for return.
  • Custom, special order or bespoke items are non-returnable unless faulty or not as described.

4. Return process

  1. Contact us at abbtool@mweb.co.za or call 071 890 6620 to request a return and provide your order number and reason for return.
  2. We may request photos or other evidence to assess faulty or damaged items.
  3. Once approved we will provide instructions for returning the item. Please keep packaging and evidence of postage.
  4. Customers are responsible for return postage costs except where the item is faulty, incorrectly supplied, or as otherwise required by law.

5. Refunds & exchanges

Once we receive and inspect a returned item we will notify you of the outcome. Where a refund is due, we will typically process refunds to the original payment method within 10 business days of approval. The exact timing may depend on your payment provider.

Exchanges or replacements are subject to availability. In some cases we may offer a credit note or store credit where appropriate.

Where returns are accepted for reasons other than a fault, a restocking fee may apply; we will inform you prior to approving such returns.


6. Damaged or defective goods

If you receive goods that are damaged, defective or not as described, contact us as soon as possible and preserve the packaging and goods for inspection. We will assess the matter and, where appropriate, arrange repair, replacement or refund in accordance with the CPA.


7. Privacy

We will process any personal information you provide in connection with returns in accordance with our Privacy Policy and POPIA.
